The thermostat regulates cooling-water flow according to engine temperature, helping the engine warm up properly and maintain its designed operating temperature. A worn, corroded, or sticking thermostat can contribute to improper engine temperatures and cooling-system performance issues.
This thermostat is constructed for use in the marine environment and is a direct replacement for the original thermostat in compatible 25/30 HP EFI FourStroke engines.
