Mercury R-Drive Complete Gearcase 8M0236217 is a genuine Mercury OEM replacement gearcase assembly for select high-horsepower outboards equipped with the R-Drive gearcase system. This assembly is the XXL standard-rotation configuration with a 1.60:1 gear ratio and gray finish.

Mercury offers the R-Drive gearcase in several configurations, including:

Long
XL
XXL
XXXL
Standard and counter-rotation versions
Gray and Cold Fusion finishes

This is the complete gearcase assembly, not a basic empty housing. The R-Drive family uses separately serviceable gearcase housings, gear sets, propeller shafts, driveshafts, bearings, seals, water pump components, and other internal parts.

The XXL configuration uses its own dedicated driveshaft and shift shaft components, so shaft length and rotation should be confirmed before ordering.
