Mercury Thermostat Housing Kit 879172210 is an OEM replacement cooling system component for select Cummins MerCruiser Diesel (CMD) 4.2L marine engines. It replaces earlier thermostat housing assemblies used in compatible CMD applications.

Compatible with select applications including:

CMD 4.2 EI 250
CMD 4.2 EI 270
CMD 4.2 EI 300
CMD 4.2 EI 320

The thermostat housing is part of the engine cooling system and works with the thermostats and related cooling components to manage coolant flow and maintain proper engine operating temperature. Parts diagrams show this housing used with separate 160-degree and 180-degree thermostats in compatible cooling system assemblies.

Because cooling system configurations can vary by engine model and serial number, compatibility should be confirmed before ordering.
